It's Not Daylight Savings Time!

You must be thinking: What's this guy talking about? I'm tired this morning because I moved my clock ahead an hour. Of course it's Daylight Savings Time. But you'd be wrong! The correct term is: Daylight Saving Time. There's no "s" at the end of the "saving". Now you can impress all your friends and everyone you meet for the next few days. They'll probably think you're a butt head just like you think I am but at least I've set the record straight. Oh and by the way, it's a "Driver License" not a "Driver's License", guess we love to add the letter "s" where it doesn't belong. Guess I'm cranky from lack of sleep. Don't even get me started on why we even have Daylight Saving Time at all, but that would be a blog post for another day.

Zero Tolerance or Zero Intelligence?

There is an alarming trend upon us, it's called zero tolerance but it seems as if there is absolutely no common sense involved at all. A 13 year old child in an Arizona school doodles the picture of a laser gun. It shows no blood, bullets, or targets. The child is suspended from school for three days and the drawing is called "an absolute threat". Some boys in an Oregon Middle School create "slap butt day" and run down the hall slapping girls bottoms as they ran. They were arrested, taken away in handcuffs, put in jail where they remained for five days. The two boys were charged with felony sex offenses. A student at a Connecticut University making a speech on a "relevant issue in the media" discussed the Virginia Tech massacre and talked about how if students were allowed to legally carry concealed weapons on campus many fewer casualties may have occurred. He was invited to a discussion with local police. A Colorado high school senior and member of the local county Young Marines was suspended from school for 10 days for locking in her car on campus a fake rifle used in drill team exercises. A child, who's dad is a law enforcement officer, is threatened with a three day school suspension because the pen his dad lent him said "Glock" on it. No depiction of a gun, just a pen with the Glock logo. I could go on and on. This is sheer insanity. This is sheer stupidity! What are these people thinking? I understand that violence in the schools can be an issue. I understand that sex crimes in schools can be a problem. But that's not what these cases are about. I think the biggest crime and biggest problem is lack of common sense on the part of schools and school administrators. I can understand the issue if a middle school child brings his dad's Glock to school but that's hardly the same as bringing his dad's pen that says Glock on it to school. That's just crazy. What is the solution to such mass stupidity? I'm not really sure but I really hope the parents of children that are caught up in the stupidity fight the schools and sue them into having to apply some common sense. In the case of the universities, where free speech and free thought used to be the norm, it seems like the First Amendment is out the window just like the Second Amendment. The universities ought to wake up to the fact that banning guns on campus will only lead to more carnage. All the schools need to realize that "political correctness" and "zero tolerance" are more about control, socialism, power and the delusion of safety. It's time to fight back against these morons.

If Murder Is Illegal What The Hell Is A Gun Law Going To Do?

This seems like common sense to me but to many of the idiot lawmakers we've elected, not so much! I think this also goes very nicely with their inane "gun free zones" which really means a criminal with bad intent is the only one who will be armed. Is this what we really want?

Newsweek Confirms It! We Are Socialists!

Before I started this illustrious blog I told anyone that would listen that our new president was a Socialist. I told anyone that would give me an audience that this country is on the road to socialism. Now Newsweek confirms it. Take a look at the cover of the current issue of Newsweek. This kind of validation I could live without. I wish I was wrong. Who's to blame? We are! This is a recurring theme here but we elect the morons that serve us! The scariest part is that a lot of people want to live in a socialist country. They want the government to take care of them. They want free healthcare, guaranteed jobs, and bailouts when they get in over their heads. They want the government to protect them. They want the government to make them feel all warm and fuzzy. Here's a little history lesson and historical debunking rolled into one: An amazing statement that should be the mantra of all freedom loving, democracy craving people is commonly attributed to Thomas Jefferson incorrectly. The statement which I think sums it all up beautifully is this: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have". This statement was made by President Gerald R. Ford when he addressed a joint session of Congress on August 12, 1974!! Wow, that's impressive and words we should start to live by before it's too late. Maybe it is too late already. I refuse to go quietly.

Change? Is This Change? Is This the Change You Were Expecting?

So is this the change all the folks who voted for Obama expected? Have you noticed the change? You know, the change to tax and spend pork barrel politics. Have you noticed the change? Back to Clinton era retreads. Oh yes there is change afoot. Did you notice the change in the polls, actually there is some change there as a majority of the public is starting to question the stimulus package. The voting along party lines change? Not so much. I predict that before too long the gullible population will realize they were sold a bill of goods by Mr. Obama as we become more socialistic, with much more government interference in our lives all in the name of change. Unfortunately all that government involvement will probably slow the process of recovery in spite of the fact that it is intended to help. Watch Obama popularity drop in the coming months as the deception becomes apparent. He may be well intentioned but the combination of his inexperience coupled with the advisors he has surrounded himself with is a recipe for disaster or at least a slow recovery.

No Room in the Prison? Let 'em Out? Crazy No?

A panel of three federal judges decided that the California prisons are over crowded and that up to 55,000 inmates will have to be released within three years so that the prisons are all warm and fuzzy for the remaining 100,000 or so inmates. Once again the powers that be have lost their minds! Now I'm the first to acknowledge that there are probably a significant number of inmates that probably shouldn't be incarcerated. My feeling is that if someone isn't a violent criminal and a threat to society fines and public service might be a better solution than prison where they get an education in being a hardened criminal. Also, keep in mind not much of anything is legal in California and that probably fills up the prisons pretty good too. Did you know it's illegal to attach a GPS to your windshield in California? I have a feeling that isn't a felony though. All this being said, do you think that fully one third of the California prison population is of no threat to the normal, law abiding population? I think not! Additionally, California frowns upon good law abiding folks defending themselves. To my way of thinking this is sheer insanity and a further example of politicians and do-gooders that lack common sense meddling into things they shouldn't. Imagine, conditions for the prisoners are bad due to the over crowding so let's let them out and make conditions bad for the good law abiding people. Am I missing something here?
