DTV Switchover AKA Procrastination (Pt.2)

I'm glad to see that the bill to extend the deadline for the switchover from analog to digital TV has been defeated in Congress. The bottom line is that this has been a process that has taken 10 years. Americans are procrastinators. They aren't ready? Would extending the deadline from February to June make a difference? Absolutely not! Come June 12, those very same people wouldn't be ready because people like to wait until the last minute. There are some bigger issues at play here as well but the bottom line is that technology marches onward, obsolescence is a fact of life and the switch has to be flipped sometime and this has dragged on long enough.

  1. The gentleman has a point; I'd also like to expose the "victim" mentality for what it is the vast majority of the time: wanting something for nothing.

It's shameful when an adult human being expects to be catered to in every nuance of their lives, god forbid they ever get inconvenienced, like they are seven years old! Tell em to shove it!

Oh...and don't give me that crap about how there are those "too poor to pay for it". First of all, please show me where people have a RIGHT to television?

Secondly, I'm confident that many of those who bellyache and claim to be on a "fixed income" will gladly pony up the bucks to eat out when they cannot afford it, or similar.

If there's a will, thre's a way. After all, it's only 40 bucks (or less) for the boxes. As Jay said, obsolescence is a part of life.

Now you'll excuse me. I'm going to relist these 8-tracks on ebay. I can't figure out why I haven't gotten any bids..perhaps the pictures are too fuzzy. -:)
