Liquidation Sales

So another one bites the dust. Circuit City is soon to be a memory. I could see this one coming for years. They were always living in the shadow of Best Buy. they tried to be like Best Buy. They weren't able to be like Best Buy. Now they will be yet another footnote in the history of retail consumer electronics. They are having a liquidation sale now through March. With the current state of the economy in this country there will probably be several others that have liquidation sales before the cycle hits bottom and we start an upswing.

Liquidation sales are for suckers. There are no bargains to be had! The sales are final! The sales help is useless! Lets examine these bold statements for a moment:

When the liquidators come in they don't really lower prices initially. Sure when the good stuff is gone and the shelves are nearly bare there will be 75% off stuff that no one wants. Right now the prices are pretty much retail. Caveat Emptor applies big time. Know your prices before visiting a liquidation sale. If you don't do your homework you will pay too much.

Sales are final. When you get home, unwrap that shiny new Snapoflex digital camera and it doesn't work forget about bringing it back to the store. Now you have to deal with the manufacturers service. Sure you'll get it fixed but postage and waiting time will most likely be involved.

The liquidator doesn't retain the store sales staff that may have a passing amount of product knowledge. They bring in their own people that have none. They just know how to ring up the sale. Once again do your homework before visiting the store.

I've only touched the tip of the iceberg here but you get the idea. Don't you?
