You're, Your and There, Their!!

I'm not sure what they're teaching in the schools these days but what excuse do the adults have? Everyday, in fact several times a day, I run into examples of writing that are appalling. I have a few pet peeves in this department. Anyone that has a basic knowledge of the English language should understand the difference between "you're" and "your"! Additionally "there" and "their" are also commonly misused. You can "lose" weight and wear your clothes "loose" yet those are commonly spelled incorrectly. Do you know the difference between "its" and "it's"? You should! In this day and age of text messaging and email people seem to have forgotten how to write and spell. It's one thing to abbreviate in a text message to keep the number of characters low but there is no excuse for making these very basic errors in any other form of correspondence including email. What and how you write says a great deal about you. People will judge you poorly if you spell poorly, you use the wrong word, or your grammar is bad. Trust me on this. Don't be lazy. Proof your writing. Take pride in what you put your name "to" and you "too" will make the right impression!

  1. Ain't that the truth!!! I'm not sure if there is a single culprit or just more of a general "laissez faire" attitude about excellence overall, but it's a daily testament to the fact that too many of us are just plain damned lazy.

We need to revert to some old-fashioned kwalitee kontrol, you know...(LOL)

    Cheers,
